A friend of mine applied for a teaching job in the DR.
They would not hire him until he read the book

DON'T STOP THE CARNIVAL

I read it after he did and having been to the DR already my view was refreshed and I was reminded of many things. My friend and I laughed ourselves silly on a daily basis over the irrationale.

You have to have a certain tolerance for insanity to stay there, but it is just one particular flavor of insanity because NA is equally insane but in different ways.

I would consider it required reading for anyone who has been there and came home with ISLAND FEVER and a determination to return, live or set up shop.

DON'T STOP THE CARNIVAL

I agree, an excellent and entertaining book. It was recommended to me by a very good friend, and I learned a lot from it.

My friend had told me the same thing, "It should be required reading."

It is certainly worth reading, and much of it may still be relevant, but just to point out it is set in the late 1950s so an awful lot is going to be different these days.
