I don't know how much you have to change eralc777 but you can get a fair rate (possibly in your favour if you negotiate hard) with the shops & baggage handlers at the airport. You get it all in COINS unfortunately, but the exchange rate is about 3 pesos per ? better than at cambios - maybe more!

If you are looking at 100,s of ?'s this is obviously NOT the way to go - try R.U.S.A's in Puerto Plata & ask a price from them. The ? is fairly low against the pesos right now so you should get a better rate than you would have 3 months ago! ~ Grahame.
