Read this alert to emerging tourism destinations in Asia to not make the mistakes of Benidorm.

I think we Dominicans should do a careful read because we could be making these mistakes.

Cabarete is one of the destinations under the threat of high rise development and there are many there that are fighting for sustainability.

Reading this article makes me think that the current real estate crisis especially in the East may not be such a bad thing. It is not good when things develop to fast.

Cabarete is under the gun alright. Developers want to put 7-story condos and hotels, etc. on both sides of the road and fill in parts of the lagoon. Unfortunately developers and politicians see unbridled growth as progress. It will be an ongoing saga for some time to come it seems. A Dec. 8 meeting in Cabarete with several opposing factions with varying views will air their concerns.
