Does anybody have any experience sending items to the DR?

I would like to regularly send items from the USA to DR.

The person I'm sending the items to doesn't live in a major city (Nagua).

I don't have an address in the DR.

Is there a service that will allow me to purchase a PO BOX for the DR here in the USA and then allow me to send items?

Or, can I send the item to a general address and have the individual travel to the city to pick up the item?

Any help is appreciated.

I've used FedEx in the past but it costs around $100.00 just to send a post card.

Get your DR friend to open a mail box with MBE (Mail Box Etc) part of UPS. That gets him a mail box in Miami. You send the mail to him by ordinary US Mail. MBE then sends it to their offices in the DR where your friend picks it up paying around 20 pesos per envelope. Works very well. People in the UK write to me paying the Royal Mail usual charges I pick them up and pay my 20 pesos. (variable according to weight.)
