Where to buy leather

Does anyone know where one can purchase tanned leather hides (cow or pig) here in the Dominican Republic? I am doing some furniture work and none of the fabric stores I have visited have any nor do they know where I might purchase hides.

There are certainly enough cows and pigs being eaten around here... there must be a tannery somewhere!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are two now--Tener?a Bojos was wipped out by the government flooding of Santiago last year.
1) Tener?a Berm?dez in Santiago
2) Tener?a Acra in San Francisco de Macoris

Probably Berm?dez has what you want.

Plus--there are a bunch of stores on General Cabrera, behind the Mercado Modelo on Sol Street in Santiago (it is foot traffic only for three short blocks)..this is where they still make leather goods for local consumption...
