Dios lobendiga/Blessings and Peace:

Since my undergrad days I have yearned to spend time in the DR. Now that I am embarking on grad studies, I figure I can spend my summer months in the DR; until I am finished.

Consequently, I need to learn everything I can about the DR, and also establish a network of associates and friends. I need to ascertain basic facts and dispel myths.

------

For example, I've heard that there is no annual property tax on real estate (as there is in the U.S.). Is that true?

I'd like to live in Santo Domingo, preferably near the University? Does that area include waterfront communities, and if so how much can I reasonably expect to spend for total monthly expeonses? (I am a vegetarian.)

Estudio espanol para seis semestres, en mi colegio y universidad. Pero no tengo amigas o novia, para hablando espanol con todos las dias. (smile)

-------

I'd love to establish bonds with Internet professionals such as myself, or all other open hearted persons; especially those on Facebook.

I look forward to receiving responses to this post.
