I love Dominican statistics and especially statistics about Dominicans.
They are even more contrary to observation and experience than regular statistics. (85% of the time.)

I cant help thinking that 'accidents' will figure high on the list.
Part of the attraction of the Dominican Republic is the lack of legislation designed to 'keep you safe' - and the lack of enforcement of the legislation that actually exists.

I am very curious about this - good question sir!

Does anyone have the Statistics for the causes of death in the D.R.?

There are a number of places you can look: WHO for example, has a chart for 2002 showing, in descending order of importance, top 10 causes of death:
HIV/AIDS, Ischaemic heart disease, Cerebrovascular disease, Perinatal conditions, Hypertensive heart disease, Diabetes mellitus, Road traffic accidents Lower respiratory infections, Cirrhosis of the liver, Tuberculosis

You can also search WHO statistical database & create your own tables & charts
WHO | WHOSIS | Search

PAHO includes accidental injuries & violence & gives you trends since 1990, read Mortality Profile on P.2
http://www.paho.org/english/HIA1998/DominicanRepublic.pdf

This paper will give you stats for different age groups & sexes
http://www.paho.org/English/dd/ais/HSA2006_ST.pdf

You can also consult Salud Publica
Indice de documentos
& Procuraderia websites: for example homicides are here, month by month
..:: Procuradur?a General de la Rep?blica Dominicana ::.. Estad?sticas

femicides here:
..:: Procuradur?a General de la Rep?blica Dominicana ::.. Estad?sticas

Remember that some Government departments here use statistics like a drunken man uses a lamp-post ? for support rather than illumination :) .
