15 Days - 3 Months: $300 Pesos
3 Months - 9 Months: $500 Pesos
9 Months - 1 Year: $2000 Pesos
1 Year - 1.5 Years: $3500 Pesos
1.5 Years - 2 Years: $4500 Pesos
2 Years - 2.5 Years: $6000 Pesos
2.5 Years - 3 Years: $8000 Pesos
3-5 Years: $12000 Pesos
5 Years+: $15000 Pesos

The fees have changed considerably. You will be shown the new fee schedule when you exit. I was here for 60+ days and needed to pay 800 pesos upon leaving. They hiked it from 300 to 800; its a considerable hike. Make sure you have the exact amount because they never have change. The previous fees on this thread are old.

If you're going home in time for Xmas and you got here on April 30, you will be in the 3-9 month category.

I think the tourist card is valid for 29 days. If you are there for 30 days you pay an additional $800RD.

Hey everyone,

I will be in DR from March 13th - April 11th.... would that be considered 29 days or 30? I calculated it and if I start counting my first full day there (the 14th) it comes out to 29 days, but would the airport consider it to be 30 days?

Thanks for your help,

Laura

They will probably try to get you for 30, but you should be able to convince them it is only 29.

Most times, they ask you how long you've been in the country. Just tell them 4 weeks.

ok. Thanks for your help. Hopefully I can get away without having to pay the fee! Especially if it's gone up to 800 pesos!!

Can someone clarify this...So for example it is 30 days, 3 months, 9 months..etc..etc..From the stamp on your passport that signifies the date of entry. So if it states Jan, 1, 2009 that is Day 1 (so Nov 1, 2009 is 9 months?)..How do they determine 9 months from that date? 36 weeks? 270 days (30 days per month)? 9 months?...Thank you.

Another Question...So 30 days to 3 months really means 30 days to 60 days for 800 Pesos...Then, it is the 61st day to the end of the 8th month which is 240 days?....Anybody?..Thank You.

It's the DR, so I figure, if your stay is at or near the time of the higher fee, they'll try to get you to pay it. Also, the math you asked about may be too complex for some of the government workers, so just bring extra cash, in case you need it.

Perfectly stated.

Looks like DR1 can't figure it out either...Only 29 days are covered on the Tourist Card-the 30th day is 800 pesos.....If it was 90 days for the 800 pesos, then the 1000 peso category would not state 3 meses, it would commence with 4 meses. Why does it not surprise me that nobody will ever figure this out, not even the Aduana officer at the airport!...Typical stuff in "Paradise"...

"Migration fees increased
Staying over the 30 days covered by the US$10 tourist card will now cost more. The Department of Migration has raised the charges for longer stays. Visitors staying for up to 90 days/three months will now need to pay an extra RD$800 upon departure or at the Department of Migration at the Centro de los Heroes in Santo Domingo. The fee scale increases with the duration of the overstay period. This means that anyone who stays for up to a year will be charged RD$2,500.
For the breakdown, see www.migracion.gov.do/tarifas/vextranjeria.htm"

Anybody know if you can pay this fee before arriving to the aduana at the airport? Maybe at the immigration office in Santo Domingo?
