Somewhat of an emergency....help!!!

well unfortunately things went wrong for a place i made reservations for so i feel like i'm starting from scratch. i am an EXTREMELY low budget traveller who'd prefer paying cheap prices for accommodations but will shell out extra if necessary. Not looking for a resort, just a safe place that is secure. I'm looking for a place in the La Romana/Bayahibe areas...I'd like to be stationed in that region for 2 days and perhaps visit Altos de Chavon and the beach at Bayahibe....I'll be traveling by public bus from Santo Domingo, not taxis....can anyone help me out with references to decent accommodations?
I've tried Hotel Bayahibe but they're all booked :(

The only time I stayed overnight in Bayahibe was in a very basic locally-owned room. All we had to do was ask around - we were in a biggish group and we managed to find 3 or 4 rooms at the last moment - and it was around Christmas too.

Search the forums here for threads mentioning local hotels in La Romana too.
