A while back, somebody wrote to the message board asking about volunteer opportunities in the DR. They received some very good advise about contacting Habitat for Humanity at their main website, www.habitat.org.
I'd just like to let everyone know that the Santo Domingo branch of Habitat really needs your support. (I'm a former volunteer) They have their own website at www.geocities.com/habitat_dr where you can get more specific info on the local program.
Or call and ask for Marisol at 537-2091. This is a really great organization doing vital work to put roofs over peoples' heads in the DR.
