Hey everyone I am looking for a good source of finding out the latest bands that are coming from DR. Being in NJ/NYC I tend to get out of the loop once in a while.

Try the pages for "Rock Dominicano" or "anivelde.com" on Facebook. Both have really good info on upcoming gigs, Dominican bands and what they're up to.

My friend just told me about anivelde.com, looks pretty cool. I'm guessing their facebook is updated more than their site then?

Yes Folks the Dominican rock scene is growing IN DR. I did watch the two you tube documentaries... That was cool. I think the rock scenes evolove mainly around Santo Domingo Santiago and La Vega.. With the last two cities being more pop rock/alternative... IN santo you can find more extreme stuff like black metal bands letheaus,amon,exsangunry throne,halcedama and others. Also in the capital a bunch of hardcore bands. Then you got your emo junk too. Even a punk record company I think two chung ho records and one other one,,Hope this new info helps,,Rockero....

I think you can also check messengermag.com, damerock.com, uepa.com should have listings for shows. I'm sure 95% of bands have a myspace page, just do a search, and follow the links, most bands are friends with each other. If you want to see a show check cinema cafe. http://www.cinemacafe.com or quintana bar in the zona (its kinda small) and ocho puertas - i think it might go by la espiral now.

YEH THE DR Has lot of rockers too but I think that scene is based out of Santo Domingo La Vega Moca and Santiago only.

I was once part of the Dominican Rock movement :-( now retired.

If you look us up my band still comes up in search engines - Cruzando Banderas.

HI I Am still trying to get to DR But found new info even rock scenes now in La Vega and Puerto Plata too, I think Mao too but this is more alternative rock stuff, IN Santiago some stuff too,, The main place though for the heavy stuff like punk or black or death metal is mainly in Santo Domingo, That is where the main scene is for sure, Not sure if there are other cities too with rockers or rock bands, Time will tell in The DR OK..

There's also Dominicanstreet.com which is all about rock and they always announce who's playing and where and for how much. Pretty cool website.
