due to own experience today at the secretaria de interior y policia in santo domingo assisting a friend on a 'traspaso de arma de fuego', passing a gun from seller to buyer, i want to shout out a note about a needed requisit which is not written about in the brochure of that department.
the buyer needs to present the original permanent residency card, otherwise the papers get not signed.
it is the first time that i hear about the need of the residency card to be shown for anything aside of the use at the airport when leaving/entering the country.
instead of the residency card they also would have accepted his proof of ownership of a property or car(matricula in his name of course).
i find that new rule a bit weird, because a up to date permanent cedular been presented and been til now enough as documentation for ID.
i hope i save some expats some hassles with this note.
we will be back there in st dgo with the residency card monday morning.
aside of the missing residency the whole procedure been fast and easy, no long lines aso.
