The recent rains have caused the Yasica river to rise considerably and whn we passed the Bridge south of Sabaneta towards Pata de Galina is was only just passable. The water was carving away the northern bank and undermining the bridge. The lacal civil defense force was out in strength directing and controlling traffic. This was at 11:00 am today. It must be much worse now as a lot of rain has fallen in the hills.

Lets get any up to date news on this if anyone has gone this way later in the day.

Costambar access road?

Is the road into Costambar still passable by car or taxi?
I was down a couple of years ago and it was almost gone during Nov. (rainy season?) Almost had to offer the cabbie more money to go down it.
Due to arrive on the 24th hope it clears up Can't swim very well!!!

When that road is bad, you tell your cabbie to take the University Road (Cafemba) up to top, turn right & go to Costambar gate entrance that way - avoids Calle Lodo altogether. :cheeky:
