Default moving to the Sosua area

This is my first post. Any information about living in the DR would be helpful. We are planning to move to the Sosua area. Cost of living, safety issues, what to watch out for etc.
    Thanks
    Judith

Use the "search function" and peruse the "Living" section. You will find this topic has been covered at length.

Nice place to live only comparable with the paradise; nice beaches, restaurants, bars, casinos, stores.... Cost of living anywhere will depend in your life stile, but it is no high as in the US or Canada. Safety is good but remembers you will have to take care of your self as the police department doesn’t work at all and some of the cops are corrupts.

I do not live in the D.R. but am considering if not moving at least a long term stay. I hae been to Sosua many times and once you are there for awhile and let everyone know you are el residente you will find the price of things goes down. Always ask for el residente menu

Judith, have you ever been to the DR? and you're obviously moving without doing any homework first?

No, there is a lot of other options that are better both on price and quality, and the same price for everyone.

Tor - What are those other places? Always looking to expand our choices.

We go to LaRoca and get the Residential Menu. The prices are decent and the food good.
