Puerto Plata Beaches

Hi,
we just moved recently to POP. We are enjoying the Malicon and are wondering whether the beach in front of the Puerto Plata Beach Hotel is safe
( water quality) we were told by some friends that it is poluted. Any comment
or advise would appreciated.

If you want to see how polluted here are 2 things you can do: walk down the Malecon to Jardin Suizo and look (& smell!) at the rivulet to the right of Jardin Suizo when you're facing it. That goes straight into the sea. Secondly walk in the other direction, from PP Beach Hotel to Long Beach (where the sea-front road ends). Go down onto the beach and a few yards ahead is another rivulet going into sea. Repeat olfactory research. :cheeky: Then form your own conclusion........
