Google Earth has posted new satelite images covering areas of the DR that previously were blurried.
Now you can see the entire Saman? peninsula including Las Terrenas and vicinity and the El Catey airport. The area around Miches in El Seybo province is also clearly visible as is the pristine beach to the east of the town. Uvero Alto north of B?varo-Punta Cana is also visible with the Roco Ki project under construction. Also, Barahona and its airport is visible. One peculiarity near the airport is the last meandering stretch of the Yaque del Sur river; it looks like the head of a duck, no kidding. The entire San Juan valley is now visible, well 90% of it is. All of Sos?a is now visible, including the Sea Horse Ranch community. Basically, all major towns of the country and most of the rural areas are visible. Its all interesting.
Unfortunately, the areas that were visible before this update have not been updated. The Santo Domingo photos must be a good two years old minimum, the San Pedro de Macoris photos are so old that the Mauricio B?ez bridge (just north of town on the Higuamo River) is still seen under construction, the Santiago photos are also quite old, and so are the Puerto Plata photos (these predate the renovations that were recently finished) and many others.
I'll post a few of the images next.
