Google Earth has posted new satelite images covering areas of the DR that previously were blurried.

Now you can see the entire Saman? peninsula including Las Terrenas and vicinity and the El Catey airport. The area around Miches in El Seybo province is also clearly visible as is the pristine beach to the east of the town. Uvero Alto north of B?varo-Punta Cana is also visible with the Roco Ki project under construction. Also, Barahona and its airport is visible. One peculiarity near the airport is the last meandering stretch of the Yaque del Sur river; it looks like the head of a duck, no kidding. The entire San Juan valley is now visible, well 90% of it is. All of Sos?a is now visible, including the Sea Horse Ranch community. Basically, all major towns of the country and most of the rural areas are visible. Its all interesting.

Unfortunately, the areas that were visible before this update have not been updated. The Santo Domingo photos must be a good two years old minimum, the San Pedro de Macoris photos are so old that the Mauricio B?ez bridge (just north of town on the Higuamo River) is still seen under construction, the Santiago photos are also quite old, and so are the Puerto Plata photos (these predate the renovations that were recently finished) and many others.

I'll post a few of the images next.

Most of Sabaneta de Yasica is detailed on GOOGLE Earth.

Follow Route 21 North from Moca, it ends in Sabaneta, past Jamao al Norte .

How does one get Google Earth to update areas?
Does one send them an email, call them, or what?
Santo Domingo, Santiago and Puerto Plata are all important geographical centers. one would think these would be of paramount importance to the overall quality of their mapping system andthey would pay particular attention to these areas.

Any comments???

To get an update for your present Google Earth program just go to Google Earth and click on the Agree and Download button. The download will automatically overwrite your present program with the new updates. As for their updates, I don't think they don't have any control over the areas the sattelites are taking their latest pictures as they don't control the satellites themselves.
