Do azabaches always have to be given as gifts? Is it bad luck to buy one yourself? I have a newborn who is now one month old and no one has bought him an azabache, even though I keep throwing out a lot of hints. I am desperate for him to wear one, is it bad luck for me to buy one for him?

I dont necessarily think it is bad luck for the mother of the child to actually buy one. are there rules as to who can or cant get an azabache for a newborn?
i just had a baby last year and she wears an azabache. i do believe that her aunt actually purchased this....i'll ask to see what the deal is with this tradition.
