punta cana airport transportation?

I need information on transportation from Punta Cana airport to the Melia Bavaro hotel. Other than taking a taxi is there a bus or guagua that shuttles from the airport to the hotel zone? What bus company? What is the cost? How often does it pass? Where do we catch the bus? Any other options would be appreciated. We cannot take the hotel transfers offered from tour operators since we have air only tickets. Thank you, Claire

A taxi will charge you RD$300 for the 12 mile trip. That is about US$20. For you to take a bus you would have to take a taxi to where you can take a bus that will leave you outside the hotel anyway, which is not worth the hassle.

Have u checked with your tour operator to see if you can pay them for transportation some will sell you transportation also. Vickie

If the operator goes or pass by your hotel and is rather nice, he will give you a free ride.
