Of course....

What information are you looking for?
What are your skills?

Must be cold in Germany right now!

I myself came here to work and live here before I?d even been on holiday here. It was a big step but I haven?t regret it for a split second. Life is very good here in the DR indeed.

If you need other information please state some more detailed questions so we can help you out :)

Greetings,

Marco

Is there anybody out there who has made the move to the DR and actually found work?

I first found work and THEN moved to the DR.
I believe this is the better way.

Try to look around, approach (foreign) companies in the DR,
send out your CV and try to get hired somewhere.

I myself am in the internet business and I found there is a huge
lack of qualified people in this discipline here in the country.
I?m sure there will be more areas where it?s like this.

Even if I have some problems right now, I don't regret
my move. Have had work (employment), but am currently
"self-employed" but looking for something more
substancial. Feel free to e-mail me, and I can give
you details "off the board". Many visitors have already
read my experiences, and repeating same postings would
possibly irritate a few.

Volunteer/stipend positions abound with various non-profits...but you may just be able to make ends meet. I've not seen anyone move down there and make a fortune doing anything. However, if you have $$$ to invest in a business of some sort that ends up being successful, that may be your best bet.

As you've seen on the board, I haven't made a fortune.
We're actually quite poor even by dominican standards.

But. I started with 23 pesos and a soldering iron 4 of april
1999, and have so far made an approximate 400.000 percent
rentability out of that.

Now I have 230 pesos, (a much better) soldering iron,
phone, roof, a computer and a 100 m2 patch of land.
Let's see what happens the next 1.5 years...
