Does anyone know if there are any prescription drug plans available in the Dominican Republic, for actual dominicans?
Or is this not available there? Anything or anyway to make perscriptions cheaper for locals?

You can get prescription plan along with your health insurance. It will pay about 80% of the meds cost. The plan is about 400 to 500 pesos per month.

There is a public pharmacy network called PROMESECAL, which is government operated, where you can get most essential meds (e.g. antibiotics, etc.) for a very minimal fee. the meds are usually generics, but the government controls the quality (or that's what they claim) and the selection is quite wide for basic meds. You can buy the meds at 80-90% off regular pharmacy prices.

For example tetanus injection costs about 200 pesos there and about 1000 pesos in the regular pharmacy.

Got any addresses, or ways to contact them in SD?
