Rockstar Games announced Grand Theft Auto IV's second downloadable episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony, which will arrive sometime this fall exclusively for Xbox Live for 1600 MS Points.
Players will take on the role of Luis Lopez, a Dominican gangster, bouncer and assistant to the legendary nightclub impresario named Tony "Gay Tony" Prince. While Rockstar didn't talk about specific adventures in the new chapter in the violent game series, it says that "players will struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price."
Fans of the GTA IV may remember Gay Tony as the owner of nightclubs including Maisonette 9 and also his exploits with Lopez in the Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend (GTA IV) and Diamonds in the Rough (Lost and Damned) missions.
"Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we've created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode's focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities."
Along with the announcement, Rockstar plans to deliver The Ballad of Gay Tony and the first chapter, The Lost and Damned on a single disc for $39.99 that won't require a copy of GTA IV to play. It's the first time that any company has made its DLC available for play without a full copy of the game. If successful, other game companies may follow suit.
While guns, glitz and grime are said to be included, we're still not sure if Gay Tony's story with the diamond heist will continue or if a new story involving Tony's boyfriend Evan will begin... either way, we're hoping to hear more during the first week of June as the gaming world gets together for E3 2009.
