Do you really mean anywhere? Or are you looking for one particular area of the country especially?

Dental rates

Just curious if you know some of the fees. I am losing my dental coverage in the US and I'm frequently in the DR so if I pay for it in the future I may do it there. Sliding in under my remaining coverage I just had a molar crown, a full set of x-rays, a small filling and a cleaning. The full price was $1550 of which more than half was the crown. My copay was $125 but in the future I'd owe the whole thing so I'm suddenly paying more attention to what it costs.

What would the equivalent cost?

Manzana: I went to a dentist in New York, she asked me $2,995.00 dollars for cleaning my gums and I she told me that I had gingivitis, I came here (DR) and they did a great job, no gingivitis was found and I paid like $150.00 dollars including the x-rays....my insurance paid half.....

my last crown cost 80$, including a temporary until my permanent came back from the dental lab. this was done in a one room dentist office, at the back of a long hall way, in a very ordinary looking commercial building in SD. one bare light bulb in the ceiling, power always going out so the generator was in the same room running the whole time, 40 year old dental chair, no running water, listerine was substituted. my dentist in NY commented that it was very well done. cleanings cost 1000 pesos. the dentist is a lifelong friend of my wife so i may pay a little less however...........and she looks hot....not like my 58 year old fat bald guy dentist in NY............

what's the name of the dentist? I need a whole mouthful of crowns.

needteeth: IMHO- Why don't you please be more specific about the city? There are a lot a good dentists here in DR and of course, much cheaper than US, so if you give us some more detail about you, I am sure that someone will come up with an excellent option for you...
Because you need to go in person for your own evaluation and personal needs....
I always go to see two or three (dentist-doctor) before I make a decision....Sometimes more....lol lol
You only have one mouth.....and is worthy to have more than one opinion ....because sometimes damages are irreversible......

thanks lucille. I will go anywhere. I need 17 crowns. The dentist here want enough money for a new house. I am willing to travel anywhere in the world. I have been to the dr a couple of times. Punta Cana and Juan Dolio. I can make as many trips as needed. I have seen how nice the dominicans teeth are so i figured there has to be some good dentist somewhere. I appreciate any and all help.

I know what you mean....In New York a dentist asked me for $2,995.00 dollars for a deep gum cleaning and I ended up paying $150.00 dollars for a great job down here..(DR) I have a medical plan insurance, but it only covers 50 or 40% of the price....so still a great deal even without it....if you need extra help feel free ...I am in Santiago....

I have also sent two email requests to Dental Cibao (using the DR1 form) and have had no response--

I will be in Santiago for one day only--Fri July 25th-- and need an appointment to get a dental implant--and I also do NOT speak Spanish!!

Does anyone have an email address for Dr. Juan Alonso Genao Frias?
He was highly recommended in a previous posting, and I called the listed phone number but I couldn't understand the receptionist!:ermm:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Susan
