Agreed
yeah but to send Jamie Moyer to the bullpen ? come on Pedro aint that good. i bet he gets hammered when they play a real team....
In the first inning the Cubs were - kind of - laying off his pitches, but I think they took a really poor approach to facing Pedro. Too many over-swings.
They should have been far more patient, seen more pitches. He was hanging a lot of off-speed stuff that should have gotten hammered, but they were all swinging for the fences. Soriano was completely psyched out and looked completely lost. Lee had some good swings against him, but he was too anxious to find the bleachers.
The Cubs are for real, but they didn't plan well for this game. Methinks the next team he faces - that will have likely scouted his performance - will be more patient, make him throw more pitches and they'll hit the ripe mangoes he's throwing.
If he gets out of the 4th inning in his next start I'll be surprised. Although, it looks like he's facing the D'Backs next, so not too much of a test there, and the AAA Mets are after that.
When he faces the mettle of the league, he'll get tested.
Cliff Lee was the best pickup they could have made.
The Phillies are the NL favorite - by a wide margin - in my opinion.
