Here is an interesting new article from the NYTimes
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/12/ma...agewanted=1&em

Stay through the initial shocking part to read more about the intelligence of whales.

I have often thought that the DR does not do enough to promote the whale watching here since many in the North who have been whale watching there think that they have "seen it" but I think that the whale's behavior here, after birthing and getting ready to go north is radically different.

I have never actually heard of the breaching that the flipping and such up north which I have seen more than once here.

Can anyone more expert speak to this?

And // just a sort of a poll--

I wonder what percentage of expat residents here in the DR have been to see the whales and how many times?

What improvements would be recommended?

(i.e. I would really like a good hotel package tour in Samana... does this exist, is there one,,?)

thanks
