I was wondering if anyone could recommend a "reliable" high-speed internet service provider in Santo Domingo. Which one has the best value?

I have used codatel for several years
and have been happy with the service.

There are several providers of broadband Internet in SD.

Codetel (DSL)
Claro (mobile)
Tricom (cable)
Viva (mobile)
OneMax (Wimax)
Wind Telecom (Wimax)

The prices are more or less the same among all providers - expensive.

I know, it seems really expensive! I saw Codatel has combined phone + internet but it is about $115 US per month. Is there anything cheaper?

Im trying to figure out if I really need a landline or if I can get by with a cell phone (is service reliable even during storms?) and using Skype to call north america.
