Looking for zip codes

Hi, My husband is currently in Santo Domingo going to dental school. I have an adress for him, however I can not find a zip code. Are there zip codes in Santo Domingo? I have sent two letters and neither have reached him, Please can someone help me on this situation thank you!

I have never seen zip codes in the DR. The mail service sucks.
It can take a month for a letter to go through, or it may never reach the the person you send it to. On the other hand e-mail works well and the phone system works well. Why can't you call the school and leave a message?

In fact, there are zip codes. But most people don't know what their zip code is, and the Instituto Postal Dominicano (INPOSDOM) has done a poor job of informing people what they are. When I moved back to the States from the DR last Oct., INPOSDOM was just announcing a campaighn to inform everyone of their code and get them used to utilizing it. As far as I can tell (from an admitedly unscientific survey of Dominican friends and family), this public education program either never happened or flopped miserably, because most do not yet know that a zip code system has been created. And since INPOSDOM does (to my knowledge) yet have a webpage, those of us living outside the DR have no way of looking up the code (as one can do on USPS' website for US codes).
There is one way to find out what one's Dominican zip code: if your husband has a phone bill from Codetel, have him check the address on the first page of the bill. Codetel is the only insttitution in the DR I know that already uses the zip code. That's how I found out mine last year while I still lived in Santo Domingo.

all have to be writed in spanish in the way it is writed
street house persones names
all have to remaing the same

ther is no zip codes for the mail
unles you are using ups/eps-ore others privite mail comapanies

dominican Republic
some times it may end in dominica
like it hapend to me once

if husband name are known with a other name in the place wher he live
you have to write his real names plus the local name
that peoplle knows him in the building
otherwise it would never gett it
