I have a taurus .45 mm. I heard its illegal to have a 44mm in DR.

I am thinking about bringing it with me in a lock box. Quite frankly I'd like to bring my 12 guage mossberg and maybe a a 9mm & .22.

Considering I won't have trouble to bring in the firearms in my luggage with an escort upon arrival.

What is the process to register firearms that quite frankly will not have any reciept from a Dominican Dealer?? or should I even bother if I have them in my possesion either way??

Are you sure? Unless you're a US Marshal or DEA or police, someone on Embassy attachment or bodyguard to a VIP, or a bona fide gun sports competitor I believe airlines are a bit difficult about this area. Have a look in legal forum - the question has been asked and answered there.

I expected such a response but will re-state, "considering" a condition means not to focus on it.

Lambada so I had to sift through for like 30 mins to find out that the sec of state does the permits and I'd have to pre-arrange its permit / legalization.

Lambada, tough wasn't it. Don't strain yourself next time. I did search "gun" before I posted, thanks to you I searched firearm.

I sure do know that 30mins will never come back to me but I'll be damned if I didn't have more style in directing someone as I gave them a simple answer.

Hey, Joey, great post man.

You probably meant to say .45 caliber, not mm, but you were excited, and it's an easy mistake to make.

Anyway, it's a great idea, bring it on down. Heck, bring all of 'em, the 50 cal, the silenced .22, the AK, the whole kit and kaboodle. And have Mickey "The Fish" bring all his stuff too. This will be great, just like old times. You guys will rule the prison down here. Awesome, man.

AA weapon?

I hope you have some kind of tripod for that .45mm, man that is one huge cannon (Joking, sure you meant 45 ACP or caliber)

How do you determine "troll" from this post?

I'm pretty new here, please explain to me how you reach such a conclusion so I can learn and not waste time with "false" posts

Apostropheman has been around the block a few times, and he can pick out recurrent themes and/or manners of speech and syntax that indicate a troll or sock puppet is present.

It's an acquired skill, and Apostropheman is very good at it. He's not always right, but he's right enough of the time to justify listening to him.

"Considering" your escort, why even bother to post and ask questions(?),
..... "perhaps" just have your "Escort" take care of everything.

Don't you just love it when people use those special words:

Considering:
A condition means not to focus on it.

Perhaps:
A word used to handle whether you are "right" or "wrong",
..... in other words, no matter what you say, you are correct.

Putting quotes on a statement or word:
Which to some who use it, claims it means it is not true, and you are supposed to know that.

Etc, etc......

OK, that said, can you let me in on who it is?

I really do have a deep interest in this issue (Firearms, not Trolls) and try to gather as much info as possible without getting distracted with false info

I followed your link (Don Santiago) and searched for those words and no Joy?

Sorry, you flunked the Junior PI Test

It took me a while to realize you were trying to allude to me! Sorry buddy, you lose

I'm sure a moderator or owner can view IP's and they will see 90% of my posts come from either Cape Elizabeth or Portland , Maine, I doubt, but I suppose it is possible Joey Doughnuts is in same area, but it is more likely one posters attempt to show me up for calling him childish

Maybe I am wrong about the whole thing, but I do seem to fit (The quotes) one wannabe Detective used for his weak attempt at deductive reason

The easiest disclaimer would simply be "Why would I want to use a different name all of a sudden for information I have been regularly receiving?"

Thanks for your explanations though, it helps understand the psyche behind some posters and their reason for being here

I think apos's hunch was based on the fact that most new posters aren't as impolite as the Doughnuts person was, when someone is genuinely trying to point them to where the subject has been covered (Mike Fisher has posted informatively in the legal forum on this subject on a number of occasions). Most new posters would come back and say 'I tried looking there but I didn't find the answer' - something normal like that. Then probably a kind soul with the time available might do a search for them & give them an actual link to a thread.

An overly stroppy response either indicates a naturally rude person or someone who has another agenda. I don't think anyone was pointing at IslandDreaming at all. It was the Doughnuts response they were commenting on. Am I right?

OK, you guys are much smarter, more clever and worldly than this sold Sailor

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=5 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=midtext>Isn't paranoia defined as unjust or unreasonable? I think my assumptions were not only reasonable, they are justified by your further comments
I have no desire to become one of the play toys some of you revel in arguing with, thinking you have won like little kids, I visit this board to get information and in the rare instance I may have information, provide it to others

It truly is beyond me what I assume to be grown men derive from juvenile taunting, I have seen it from certain posters way too often for it to be a fluke, it surely is a personality issue and I want no part of it

Apostrophe man, you know darn well why you are doing your best to prove something (Though you have been caught in your attempts), it is my dismissal of you as a gopher for another poster. Don, I have no idea what your problem is unless it is pack envy as with Catcher, though I recall I may have had a small disagreement with you, but to me this board is not an ongoing saga but an information portal, I really don't care to learn your personalities and quirks

A friend of mine who turned me on to this board was one of the early members, for whatever reason he no longer posts, I belive due to disagreement with the owners, explained to me I would experience these very issues, but my early time on this board were nothing but positive and I lulled into believing he exaggerated, he was correct.

It is obviously a different group that now feels they must prove their superiority, but same type and class of person

I also won't get upset and say I am leaving, I just like to visit here and obtain or relate information, do you think it would be possible for your to stick to that or are you so incessant in your need to win you must keep this up?

I don't know you, likely will not wish to meet you when (If I ever get there) I do move to Santiago, so lets say you win and leave it there

It is unfair and child like for me to rant on and then say "No more from me, I said what I needed and no longer will respond," but from a personal prospective i would appreciate a non personal exchange here.

Thanks and hope I didn't further ruffle any feathers, football game is on :squareeye

Correct!

Somewhere around post catorce things went a little strange when someone took it upon themselves to jump in and, incorrectly at the time, think that they were being discussed. The very definition of paranoia:
paranoia - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary ;):bunny::bunny:

First of all, you're not traveling to the Wild-Wild West. This ain't Texas. Next, 45mm are only issue to military officals. Last, but not least, are you declearing war to the DR? If so, let me fetch my AMT. It took me almost a year to get my permits.

Good hunting, cowboy;)

The only thing I was referring to was Apostropheman's insight.

I don't think anyone was calling IslandDreaming a troll, a sock puppet, or anything else. Perhaps the sequence of posts was misleading, but in my opinion, there was a simple misunderstanding, and nothing more.
