Christmas is typically a family event for most people. On the new year eve last year the malecon was just empty . In the disco across the street from the outdoor bars there was nobody. I went then to the two most famous disco place in Santo Domingo and it was the same. I guess the entry fee of 600 and 1000 Dominican pesos may partly explain why. I must admit this has always and still is a dispointment I never come across those days as special.
