Do you speak Spanish well? If so call Zacarias at 809-652-2171. Tell him Chi sent you. He will get you the best price available here in Santiago and knows what and what not to buy. He will ask for a small commission, but in the end you will still come out ahead.
We have one of those new front load washers - but we brought it with us so I'm not sure about pricing on the island or availability.
The advantage is they use considerably less power, soap and water. Furthermore, the clothes , after the spin cycle , are considerably dryer than a conventional top load.
Not as long on the clothes line !!
