In the Dominican Republic most people, even foreign residents use tap water to brush their teeth.

The extra precaution made to foreigners about using bottled water for teeth brushing made to foreign tourists is that there may be some microbes or allergens that are foreign to your system. You avoid this by using bottled water.

Note that the pool is treated with chlorine and thus bacteria are eliminated for all, so it is just as safe as a pool anywhere else.

Also note that hotel water is treated even though bottled water will be provided.
