Helicopters over Punta Cana

We just got back from a short vacation at the LTI Punta Cana Beach Resort and had a wonderful time. However, we found it the helicopter tours that would constantly fly over the hotel and beach area were extremely annoying and disruptive of the tranquil ambience of the area. It seemed that every 30 minutes or so they would "buzz" the hotels at extremely low levels, something we never got used to. Has anyone else experienced this and felt the same way?

In addition to the helicopters, has anyone ever heard (or felt) the blasting from the TNT they use at the local mining quarry?

I stayed at the Bavaro Palace over Easter and found the helicopters to be very annoying. We were there in 1998 also and there would only be a couple helicopters all day.

What did you think of the Bavaro Palace?
