Good Morning fellow DR 1'ers.

I'm looking to see if there is a strip of little shops between Grand Oasis Marien and Ibostar. I've been told it's called Marien Shopping Centre and you can see the stores from the road. You must pass the stores on your way to a casino which is located on this property. This is a new setup and the stores are being rented out now. I believe they are a "higher end" strip of stores that already have a grocery store, clothing store and a gift store in operation. I believe this area is called Costa Dorada. Any info or pics would be great. Thanks a Bunch for your help....as usual.

Wow...I can't believe I've stumped the info centre here at DR1. I'm sure someone must have some insight into this new project I'm looking for info on. Don't let me down...have another cup of coffee.....maybe some info will pop into your brain today! It's possible I have the wrong name of the place but, it should at least be a close facsmile. Have a great day Dr 1'ers

Yes - there is a new development of stores where you mention - off and below the main road. Last time I passed a few were rented but most looked empty. I have never driven off the main road to check more closely. Hope this helps.

I am surprised that there are 2 or 3 shops rented and that anybody would waste money to rent a shop there, its just a bad location, and the hotel has 2 shops inside as well, so i guess its a dead project.

Marien, which sits in between the main road and side by side with IberoStar, has indeed added a small Casino and a strip shop (it's own) in front of their entrance facing the road. It is NOT a shopping center or mall... it's a nice modern building with a cute Caribbean touch (the architecture). This was part of a remodeling and expansion effort of Marien, which also includes a row of buildings with new rooms and a new restaurant complex facing the beach.
The shopping strip seems designed to harbor a few souvenir shops, maybe a clothing shop carrying some items like baiting suits tourists may not care paying a little too much for an similar items. Not a place which attracts customers from the street.

The service road, parallel to the main street, serving both IberoStar and Marien dead ends into a "new" development which has some apartment buildings being currently built (s l o w l y) and small home lots which have been sold individually (only one has been started to be built on... already in ruins). The infrastructure is still minimal and I see, as with so many "proyectos" a big future for problems with drainage... especially in case of a tropical storm. Problems which should not affect the tourist visiting the neighboring AI resorts Marien and IberoStar.

Thank you soooo very much for taking the time to give me such detail. I appreciate it greatly. You've given me a visual that I can deal with.
Have a great day
