Hey folks,

I've been thinking about moving to the DR for a while, i have years of experience working and managing call centres here in Canada and was looking to do something similar in the Dominican. Where on the island would I find the most call centres? I'm assuming Santo Domingo but is there anything else? I also play a LOT of poker and would be looking to do so in the casinos too so the city would have to have a few casinos in it that offer Texas Holdem Poker. Any advise would be very appreciated!

Thanks!

First welcome to DR1. Second it's not The Dominican. It's The Dominican Republic or in short the DR. Imagine how someone from the USA will feel if someone calls their country The United lol

I imagine most call centers will be found in the Capital (Santo Domingo). Although, there are quite a few in the second largest city of the DR, Santiago.

Use the search button, it can be your best friend on here.

Good luck.

IMO, Dont think about moving to the DR until you have about 300 or more posts.

Every time I see someone correct someone else for calling the Dominican Republic the Dominican, I do get a good laugh out of it. I noticed craigslist calls the country Dominican- whats this world coming to??

Us Canucks refer to the USA as the States, as do many Americans. Doesn't bother most Americans. DR, Republica Dominicana, Dominican Republic, The Dominican, Hispaniola...etc.

didnt realise you had to have so many posts before you entered a country e.g:

At customs in the DR:

Passport: check, stamped
Visa: Paid
DR1: 300+ Posts.

If you can really play Texas hold'em, then there is good money to be made in the casinos playing tourists who do not mind dropping a $100 buy-in and don't know the difference between the turn and the river. I met a guy who claimed to be making a very good living doing that and nothing else.

live in santo domingo, the only good place to live here. always something to do. everywhere else is just for visiting. plennnty of places to play poker. hispaniola, hilton's casino, jaragua, just call up to the casinos and ask the stakes and things like that. heard the games filled with dominicans are usually cheating, raising and reraising each other and using signals, use that to your advantage hehehe also from what i hear, they don't play like they drive so you can just run over them cause its all scared money.
