Hi everybody, I have several questions maybe someone can advice me
1. I have heard Areito is closed for renovations or whatever till end of December 2009. Is this right?

2. Is Areito disco very good one where many people (tourists and local) go?

3. Mangu disco - how far is it from Areito (Caribe Club Princess) and how much is one way taxi or some motoconcho? How much is entrance to Mangu?

4. Anybody who will be there in December 2009?

Thanks Angelic

Areito is wil be closed for the next two months. When I was their almost everyone was a tourist(it is located on Caribe Club Princess). Mamy of the women were hookers I believe. But we had a good time. All the music played was American. I really didnt get much of a authentic vibe. But it was convienient.

sure the single women you saw there been hookers like at all nightlife spots around the tourist area here.
a decent dominican woman would never even consider to visit a disco or nightclub without her husband or at least 3-5 of her sisters/cousins aside.
you will not find a disco/nightclub with typical dominican vibe at any resort.

Areito

Thank you Mike..if they will really be closed until 23th December, then I have problem..because I have chosen Caribe Club Princess because of Areito too. Do you have idea how much would be motoconcho or taxi to Mangu and entrance fee to Mangu or Imagine?

the mangu is around the corner of the CCPrincess.
i guess minimum cab fare is around 8US$ per ride.
a Motoconcho you would need to take at the main entrance, not always available on nighttime at the hotel entrance, that would be $2.- for the ride.
take the cabby and stay safe for the few bucks extra.
difference is just the cost of simple small beer.
Mangu entrance fee is 100-150 pesos/3-5US$
Imagine would be a 15 minutes cabby ride away, the ride should be a $15.-US, don't know their entrance fee.
Imagine is at most resorts also offered as a 'package', including transfer and entrance fee and the first drink included, if i remember right i saw that for the 30-40US$ ballpark per person, but not very sure on the Omagine rate, maybe somebody else can fit that in.

if you stay in december at the Tropical princess/Caribe Club Princess i would guess the Disco Areito will be open, too.
it is both which are closed for renos, the hotel and the resort Disco.
happy sunday
Mike

the peak season usually starts 5-7 days prior to christmas eve.
nobody will know for sure the exact date for a reopening, renovations/constructions etc depend timewise often on many different factors, so a exact day prior announced is mostly failing, lol.

I'm staying at PCP in December and my TA sent me the following message:

Please be advised that due to renovations, the Areito disco will be closed due to renovations from Sep 03/09 - Dec 07/09 to ensure quality facilities. Areito disco is located at the entrance to the Princess complex.

Guests may continue to use the Lancelot Disco which is located inside the Bavaro Princess Casino. Free transportation (5 minute drive) is included to the casino.

Areito

Thanks for information. As far as I have information Lancelot disco is not really disco similar to Areito or Mangu, it is more like lounge. Also not many people go there and it is not packed as Areito or Mangu. Imagine I dont have any information about it. So Lancelot cannot be given on the same level as Areito, Mangu and cannot be compared to them.

That's correct. VANITKA, to see what's closest to Dominican night-life vibe, you would need to visit Higuey (45 kms away) best on Saturday night. I recommend visiting in group, being alone on the night out on Saturday night sucks. You will have many spots where to visit, discos, open-air spots, kareokee bars, boulevard, etc.

In Discos in Higuey, you will hear a mix of Reguetton, Bachata and Merengue, some (sporadic) techno and dance.
