In US if one does not need to use his/her car for some time it is possible to surrender to the DMV the plates and to remove insurance from the car .

Is it possible in DR too? Not to pay for insurance if one leaves the country for fife-six months.

Please!

I used to cancel my insurance in N America when I stored a car for the winter.

In response to the Piglet's post.... I just cancelled the collision component, left the comprehensive in place to cover damage done in stroage.

The bulk of the premium is for the driving component (collision) really cheap to leavr the comprensive on.

It is a very good DR question-- I haven't touched the DR car for 6 months and didn't think about this option

Thank you Afgan
