Does anyone have any thoughts about the pros and cons of living in Cabrera v Rio San Juan - apart from the obvious that Cabrera doesn't have a town beach. Eg night life/cost of living/restaurants/how friendly etc etc

Love Cabrera. We took a second place here in August and I just love it. Clean, little crime, decent, inexpensive food venue, nice night life near the park. Stop by gringobiz' house for an "always fria" P-light anytime!

Obviously we agree that Cabrera trumps Rio San Juan for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is the mayor here, Jorge Cavoli. He is quite good at collaborating with ex-pats to make them feel at home and simultaneously helping keep this area clean and unique.

Not having a beach in town is definitely a major plus! Beach towns can get very crowded, dirty and crammed with people on the weekends. Cabrera has 6 beaches within a 12 minute drive either way on the road so enjoying a fantastic beach isn't a problem.
