American Notary Public, Anyone?

There is a US consulate in Puerto Plata which I understand notarizes at least certain documents.

You will probably have to visit...
the embassy or a consular office in your locale.
While there may be individual notaries residing in the D.R., their commissions may be invalid if they are now residents of the DR. Even if they are only visiting, most states allow notaries to notarize only in the state their commissions are from.
You certainly do not want important documents invalidated because of a notarial error.

The US Consular Agent for the North Coast, Ted Foster, has office hours in Puerto Plata on Thursday mornings. he can notarize your documents there.
