I still have an analog box (waiting for a digital one) and see that HBO Latin America is not on channel 62 anymore. Does anyone have any info - is it still carried and if so, where? Thanks.

its only for certain film channels- its the one under the red on off button, if the sound goes off it means you cant have english, so keep pressing until origi nal sound comes back on

Is the pricing different for digital boxes as compared to analog? Besides the numbers being different are there more or better channels?

errrm not a lot better - you often get pixilation if thats a word -there are more film channels and sport channels (but no tennis channel ). you pay for the new box then the pricing is the same I think - box costs 1000 pesos now (it was cheaper to start with)

Are they making the analog obsolete or will it still work if people choose not to upgrade?

Great

Thanks, that language button is a nice feature. I use the Spanish movies with the english subtitles as my language tutor.

New Cable Box

If you haven't got an old box to trade in, it's $1500 RD for a new one and $500 RD per month subsciption. (I presume this is for the basic package).

If you have an old box to trade in how much is the new one?

1000 pesos, and if they try to convince you they have to come to your home and install it, they don't. Just bring your old box to the office, they will program your new box (via a card) and all you do is plug it in when you get home...

David Thanks for the info. What new channels are you finding? Has PBS and/or CNN(not just international) come back?

I'm actually unimpressed with the "new" channels...we did get regular CNN back. Also have Bloomberg and HLN...also Al Jazeera Int'l...still have BBC World instead of BBC America...and FOX is back (on the regular system (channel 75) it had changed into a pay channel), and Showtime is back (was channel 61). It seems the majority of additional channels are Spanish Language.

As a bonus, there appears to be some digital music channels, but I haven't checked them out yet.

Also, if you have a hi-def TV and use the s-video connection, your picture should be noticeably better than before...

David Thanks for the info. Looking forward to CNN and Showtime. Would love to get PBS back but some is better than nothing.
