Hi, I just joined this forum today after a suggestion from someone over at Tripadvisor and I think I made the right choice.

Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me determine the best way to travel from Puerto Plata to Cap-Haitien with a stop in Dajabon.

I have read that some have rented a car, parked at the boarder and hired a taxi and others have used local buses for the whole trip.

I think it takes about 3 hours to get to Dajabon from Puerto Plata is that correct? And another 2 to get to Cap-Haitien?

Is it possible to make a day trip of this if I got started very early or is that unrealistic? Any advice on the journey to Cap-Haitien would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cbo

It is not that easy. As the above poster suggested you can take the Caribe Tours bus to Cap Haitian. You cannot take a car across without a huge hassle and much paperwork.
And I don't think yuou want to use the Haitian buses...

Take the bus from Santiago..
