How much per month can a good doctor such as a surgeon trained in the US make in the DR? 4,000 us dollars to 30,000 us dollars per month practicing medicine in the DR?
PJT would like to follow Bob K's example to put some scale to the question. A doctor consult and treatment for a minor illness or injury in a private or non-profit clinic in the DR would cost in total about the same as an insurance deductable, of let's say USD $20, in the States. Therefore, a doctor practicing in the DR is not on the same earnings level as one trained and practicing in the U.S.
A U.S. trained doctor in the DR would have to have truly altruistic motives to practice as the huge earnings potential are very limited.

PJT
A US trained doctor might consult here, might teach here, but he cannot legally practice here unless he goes through the many, many hoops required to become a member of the Dominican College of Doctors...

I bet his next question would be:
How much does an american trained drug dealer makes in DR?
AZB
I'm new so I thought I would come to this group of experts for guidance:
My girlfriend just dumped me. I was so distraught that my job performance really suffered and, as a result, I was fired.
Well, here I am collecting unemployment. I think I owe about 3300 in back child support and my rent is 3 months behind.
Here's my question: can I move to DR, get a job with my business degree even though I don't speak Spanish (because I'm smarter than those poor Dominicans) and open my own restaurant in Sosua? I figured that being such a smart American, I can just "escape" to the DR, pay women to love me and never have to pay taxes ever again.
