Am I correct that holy week is 2010 starts march 27th? and For anyone thats been there during this religious celebration in the past, would it be suggested for a fair size group of 20-somethings looking to party go during this time?

definitely! don't let the name fool you, there is ALOT of partying done among young people during semana santa or holy week.

I haven't done Semana Santa since 2006. I feel inclined to go next year. The best hotel to stay at IMO is the Kaoba Hotel in Cabarete. It is right smack in the middle of the action. If you book early make sure you get a room in the back or else...YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SLEEP (or get any rest)!
