Hola , I will be in Punta Cana and was wondring if it is frowned upon , to walk up the beach and venture into other resorts . Not to eat or drink there food but to compare and see what the ambience is like . Something I regret is looking thru travel books and saying "i should have looked at what that place was like " .Have not been to the D.R. yet . Ciao Garr

Re: Touring All Incl. resorts in Punta Cana

You'll need to request a tour at the reception area of each resort, as each resort is all-inclusive. Otherwise, you risk being "arrested" at any moment by a guard if he see's you aren't wearing the appropriate wrist bracelet. That would be akin to stealing because for all they know, you are eating, drinking, and otherwise enjoying the facilities of a resort that you didn't pay for.

The way I did it was to walk directly up to the first guard I saw when entering from the beach and let him know you want to look around the resort. He will escort you to the reception area (or just direct you there and watch to make sure you don't stray), and a guard or representative will be assigned to walk with you as you look around.

I've walked around many resorts without doing this without a problem, but I've also been stopped by the guards and 'escorted' to reception area a few times. It puts everybody in an uncomfortable situation.
