A woman I met while staying at one of those "places" (nudge say no more) in Cabarete has gotten back in touch with me after leaving the business. She does not fit the usual profile of those who go to work in that area though.
She is 19 and lives in Santiago and just started attending UC Madre y Maestra.
She goes to the highest end clubs in Santiago and meets celebs at concerts, I know from pictures. She is an expert horse rider and jumper and owns her own horses (no innuendo there).
All this begs the question of why an upper middle class woman would go work in Cabarete, and what her angle on visiting me is. Perhaps she just wanted to do it for the experience?

wth....she left the biz and shes only 19? when the heck did she start? better yet, HOW OLD WAS SHE WHEN YOU 1st MET? She has only been legal for a year. ugh. you mean why would an upper middle class CHILD go do that? you think a child cares about experience?

anyone can go to high end clubs if they dress the part. celeb groupies arent really that impressive. how did she get the money to own horses? and to pay for PUCMM? seriously? why am i even asking all this. *sighs*

make the money in Sosua bring it back to Santiago to pay for the estudio apartment, nice clothes, and the late model Skoda or newer Hyundai. Real simple, Sosua: meet old fat silly looking white guys from America and Europe with a lot of $$(dough to blow-pun intended) that would love to slurge....um splurge on a nice hot fine supple 19yo old babe. They probably need the Viagra so her nights may be short and sweet. She may go back to Santiago por classes on Monday with 7000 pesos in her pocket.

Other than that, the whole deal sounds bogus.

She was only in it from 18-19 it seems. Last Jan. to this Oct. if I had to guess since I know her birthday from what seems to be the main "Social Network" site in the DR. One thing is that I ain't that old, 29.

If she is paying her own expenses and has a visa, why not?

If she expects you to cough up some money, then your getting played.

Regardless of what advice you get here from people that have lived in the DR for years and seen every trick in the book, you will do what you want to do, even if it's 100% foolish in many peoples eyes.

Her myspace says she is 19. Also on that it mentions the clubs she goes to in Santiago. Copas, Francifol and Privillege.
A bit OT; It would be hard to get her to California where I live since Continental dropped all its flights from IAH to the Carribbean for some reason. Now it is very hard to get a same day connection from the DR to the West Coast.

Wrong End

First get her a visa and then the ticket.
The Continental schedule is not the problem... :cheeky:

Being the smart a$$ that I am, when she lands in New York, make sure you greet her straight off the plane to insure , that she doesn't take too long to get to California..........

Getting the visa is the part I don't know how to do

I know she already has a DR passport, there has to be a thread somewhere on here on getting travel visas, I will search for it.

It's not that easy

If she doesn't already have a visa, they are not that easy to get to visit the U.S., and at best won't happen for a few years.

I just pointed her to the Spanish site for the Embassy in SD, it is up to her to go there and find out what she needs to do to get a visa as far as I can tell.
I read the visa requirements and the fact that she has her family and current and paid for college classes in the DR should be enough to secure a visa.
I don't know if I need to get the ticket for her 1st, hell no I'm not giving her cash to pay for it.

forget it man!
You didnt say nothin' about her wanting to visit you in the US. I thought she was going to visit you in Cabarete. Man, please! If you fly this woman into FLL/MIA or NYC she will be gone in the wind. And even if she does come out to california to see you are you prepared to be usurped? Why dont you just stay in touch with her and maybe she can come and visit for Easter when she completes her degree nice job then she can obtain a tourist visa on her own?

bad idea bro, but if you re asking, await the visa first then get the ticket. and she most assuredly only qualifies for a tourist visa if she can prove she is currently matriculated in PUCMM.

She would be eating US $12,000 in college tuition if she did that!
I don't think I need to go that far in waiting. I might be able to get her to visit as a student though, U Miami FL, Colgate, RIT and others have partnerships with PUCMM.

If someone does take off on a visa that you sponsored them for, will you go to jail or lose your US citizenship then?

What I dont understand is that if she was all that (high class, horses, school, DR Passport) why did she need u to find out the info for her ? I mean usually people of a certain class really dont need to ask Americans how to get to the US. I dont know Man....Think about it
