Been in Santiago for 2 years and really miss excellent Chinese cooking.
Born and raised in Chicago gave me the opportunity to eat the real stuff by the best Chinese cooks. So, I would like to know if anyone here knows of a QUALITY Chinese restraunt in Santiago.
Please don't recommend Jade by the casino......10 yuchs...
If you have location and phone number that would be great. Thank you

there is no good chinese in santiago (or santo domingo).

the best place i found in santiago is just down from expreso jade, you keep going down las carreras a few blocks and turn right and its down a block (its a 1-way street, so this only works on foot). its backed onto a gas station.

i don't remember the name or the exact address, but this should get you started -- a taxi driver will be able to find it since there are very few chinese places in this area.

Yes there is a good one. Opened about a year ago.

Restaurant Superico 809-971-4848 971-8866

On Calle Duarte, not the highway, but the street. This is a real Chinese Restaurant, owned by Chinese and run by them. AC, table cloths, you will not know you are in the DR. Very good food, nice selection, and reasonably priced for the food they serve. I highly recommend it.

Most people I know that live in Santiago do not even know this place, I had to take them. If anyone wants directions I can give them.

Sky, thank you thank you thank you.......
Just came back from Restaurant Superico and it was delicious. Way more than I expected. Clean, A/C, excellent Dominican service, and the Chinese food we ordered...lets say I left with a big smile.
1. Shrimp dumplings......perfect
2. Steamed dumplings...perfect
3. Chinese backribs in sticky soy sweet sauce...better than perfect
4. Sweet and sour shrimp in sweet sauce w/ sweet peppers and pineapple
pieces.......outstanding.
5. Beef chop suey with white rice....excellent
6. Even the Chinese hot tea was authentic
One thing....Your pm said close to El National......not even close
But my regular taxi driver knew exactly where it was. 5 min. from my house

I would highly recommend this Chinese restaurant to any and all Oriental food lovers, Sky was right on the money, Waytogo, sky

I have been coming here for 4 years and living here the past 2. I had given up on finding a good Chinese eatery.
DR1 has helped me in so many ways and I am making new friends continuously because of this site. I haven't laughed or smiled much for the last 7 years and connecting here is filling a void that I desperetly needed.
The help and advise I have received here is priceless.

Super Rico is as close to "real" chinese food as you'll find in Santiago, maybe in the DR. And it's reasonably priced as well. Definitely HIGHLY recommended.

One place that wasn't mentioned in this thread but has been in others is China Fast Food...on the highway heading out of Santiago towards SD...across from Banco Central. It is just "OK" but definitely cheap, and everything Ive had except the spare ribs (which were inedible) has been decent. However, they use Ramen noodles for the lo mein!

my favourite dominincan chinese is in puerto plata near the roundabout to playa dorada. its in an orange building near some government office. that place has been consistently good over the years and is much better than the santiago one. also if you go there in the evening, tons of people are there

Comparing this restaurant to the one I recommended in Santiago is like comparing Peter Luger's Steak House to Burger King.

I like the one you said in Puerta Plata, but seriously, you cannot compare anything about it from food, to ambiance, to Superico in Santiago.

The spare ribs at SuperRico were the best I ever had anywhere. And I don't say that lightly. The sticky sweet sauce was perfect. I ate at authentic Hong Kong owned restaurants, the best in Phoenix, Chicago, and Los Angeles and these were the best. Maybe I hit them on a good day but I doubt it. I am very critical on quality of food in a restauraunt and have eaten at some of the best in the world and this place, being in the D.R. gets 5 stars. My girlfriend wants to go back tomorrow for lunch because she liked it so much.
