<o:smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" images="" smilies="" embarrassed.gif="" border="0" alt="" title="Embarressed" smilieid="27" class="inlineimg"></o:smarttagtype>There has been a lot of speculation and insinuation regarding my abduction and I know that a lot of people have questions. It is due to this, in part, that I have decided to set the record straight.
<o></o>
The main reason I have not posted, except to say thank you, is that I have been strongly advised not to release information that may compromise the investigation. However, in light of the magnitude of the allegations and the effect it has on other innocent people, I would like to clarify without interfering with the ongoing investigation.
<o></o>
It should be noted that the investigation is still open and active. ENCUENTRAN EN BOCA CHICA CANADIENSE SE PRESUMIA ESTABA MUERTO<o></o>
<o></o>
For those who stubbornly refuse to believe I was abducted, the police detained and questioned a man a week before my return and he gave the precise details of my abduction, which support my statements to police. He also provided names of the alleged perpetrators of the crime which led the police to question other detainees. This can be verified by several police officers, all the way up to Coronela Francia Hernandez.
<o></o>
When I went to <st1:city w:st="on"><st1>Santo Domingo</st1> </st1:city>to retrieve my computer from the authorities, Colonel Francia Hernandez extended the courtesy of providing a police officer to go with me to aid me in the process. If the allegations brought forth were in fact true it would be unrealistic to expect the authorities to return my computer and passport much less extend the courtesy of an officer dedicated to help facilitate this task.
<o></o>
This treatment alone should be proof enough that the allegations of a fake abduction are completely unfounded and the press release from the Polic?a National in local newspapers fully confirms that. Add to this the fact that the police knew everything that had happened to me, except for my precise whereabouts, well in advance of my return as a result of the interrogation of suspects.
<o></o>
In regard to my trip to <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>Canada</st1></st1:country-region>, my family needed to see my condition for themselves. Understandably they have been through a lot recently, as have many others, and I had no choice but to go see them asap. I will soon return to Sosua and am determined to continue my dream of living in the Dominican Republic.<o></o><o></o>

For those who still don't believe, please contact the Colonel for verification. If you prefer to ignore the facts available to you, then please keep your thoughts to yourself. I am a regular person just doing my best to live my dream.

Thanks for confirming information I received earlier.

Just proves to me my source was correct as well as more food for thought
to determine for myself what happened.

Hope the family's ok.

I hope what you say is true. I am glad you are alive and well. I was worried sick for you.
Now I also had a talk with the police and they said something completely opposite of what you are stating.

Awesome Apos.

But, and you know there is a but. Christmas bonus? Accusual of missing 150,000RD that C$S said was left for their 10 months.

Will you make everyone whole finanially?

Why were the employes not liquidated on 10/31 when the company traded hands. And then rehired.

Seems reasonable to me that following up with Coronela Francia Hernandez and other officers involved with this case we can go a long way in getting to the truth of the matter, but then again you have Sergeant Bernaldo Cabrera saying a few days ago it was closed and that D'Arcy went to see a friend. Aftab,
Would you be so kind as to let me know which policeman you spoke to & on what day? I am not distrusting what you say but I would like to know so that I can verify it myself from him/her!

You see OUR problem (or certainly mine) is that we are getting alternative information from the higher ups. As your Spanish is better than most, could you ring Coronela Francia Hernadez & check it directly with her. Tell me when you have spoken with her & I will ask her why she says one thing to us & another to you (if she confirms what her squaddy says).

If you prefer to keep this offline you can PM or e-mail me - no problem.

Thanks ~ Grahame.

I'm afraid I haven't been able to locate him yet - he isn't known to any of us that have been to the police station up till now. I will be following this through further on Monday & will report back! ~ Grahame.

Question to you BB am I correct to assume that the interview by the TheSpec.com of D'Arcy was done by phone, or did they have a reporter on the ground in DR.

Absolutely correct A.H.
To the best of my knowledge the Hamilton Spectator has ONLY made telephone conversations to get their stories. I asked them about their hired Spanish interpreter that could not get back to the correct officers they had been speaking to previously but have not received a reply from them (3 days later).

If I had that name I could find out which department this Renaldo Cabrera worked in & what his boss Francia Hernandez thought of his comment to the Spectator. More when I have it confirmed! ~ Grahame.

While there is obvious financial obligations that hasn't being addressed by the OP, I believe you cannot accuse somebody of faking an abduction just based on that. While it may seem convenient and favorable for the kidnapped to dissapear just when he owes a lot of money to everybody it is not a definitive to start drawing conclusion as some has done here. If he was really kidnapped (we still don't know if he was or wasn't) the scenario would have been the same anyway (unable to pay) and in addition of dealing with the kidnapping itself, has to deal with preposterous accusations by some.

And lets be honest here, it's not to hard to get one of these Dominican officials to babble what ever you want them to say for a little$$$$$$$.
That 150,000RD would certainly do the trick...

I'm at a loss about the spelling error - here's the header from the PN website; unless these old eyes are starting to fail me the spelling looks the same...

Gregg, I think the reference was to the misspelling of the name "Wright." That doesn't actually surprise me since I have experienced the way my name gets butchered when someone whose first language is Spanish tries to spell it.

Spanish orthography doesn't allow for the peculiarities of names that contain silent letters or that are not pronounced as they are written. Also, and I am certain that Hillbilly and others will agree, there is a lamentable tendency in Dominican Spanish towards misspellings in general.

Just think about how "cerveza" becomes "cervesa" or "vaca" becomes "baca."

Thanks La Profe, makes sense. I missed that as I see so many foreign names butchered in the DR press.

miozio,

If the misspelling is of D'Arcy's last name please ignore my comment. I was drawn to the graphic and thought it was in question. My bad - unless you WERE referring to the graphic - LOL.
