Conatra will not restore transport on 3 June

The largest private transporter of passengers, the National Central of Transportation Organizations (Conatra), warned on Monday, 1 June 2020 that the units of its 712 affiliates will not return to work unless the government meets their demands. According to the gradual phasing in of activities, private transport will resume as of 3 June 2020. But Antonio Marte, president of Conatra, says the government must first pay the RD$17 billion he says the government owes them. He says the amount has been adding up from the discounts on the fuel the state has made following an agreement with Conatra to remove dilapidated vehicles from city streets.

Public transport has been operating since the reopening of the economy on Wednesday, 20 May 2020 with the Metro, Skylift, and Metropolitan Office of Bus Services (OMSA) buses, plus taxis and multi-fare paying taxis.
