President Danilo Medina is hopeful that the ruling party can “at least” maintain control in the Senate. Forget the nationals, focus on your polling stations, President Danilo Medina told the political and central committee members of the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) during a gathering on Thursday, 25 June. Medina argued that the polls are giving people a wrong perception.

Temístocles Montás, president of the PLD, announced that Medina would personally go on the campaign trail. Medina had kept behind the scenes in the campaign. His last appearance was when Vice President Margarita Cedeño was named the running mate to Gonzalo Castillo in February.
