According to Coronavirus Bulletin #147 of the Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Epidemiology, the Dominican Republic has 83,134 confirmed cases, including 910 new cases.

The #147 report includes details on the accumulated incidence of the disease per 100,000 inhabitants as per the confirmed PCR tests. The National District with 2,268 and the top 10 provinces with the highest rate are: Pedernales (1,228), La Altagracia (840), Santiago (811), Sanchez Ramirez (754), Barahona (696), Azua (675), Maria Trinidad Sanchez (678), La Romana (665), Santo Domingo (634) and Duarte (629).

The number of confirmed cases depends on the completion of PCR tests. Even the well-off in the Dominican Republic have to wait to get tested or get their test results. There is a long delay in cases pending for results and the tests carried out. For a shot at a free PCR test, people...
