Motorcycle Licenses

I have a Category 2 Dominican driving license which if I understand correctly is valid for Category 1a motorcycles (upto 125cc).

I have held it for 2 years which is the period you have to hold a 1a license before you can get 1b (all motorcycles).

My question is, does it now automatically cover 1b or do I need to go take a test or do something else?

Thanks

Following this since I never knew there were specific motorcycle licenses in the DR.

That's a possibility. The version 2 includes 1a, and I wonder if after two years 1b?
Perhaps the legal team will respond. I suspect that it goes up the chain so that a version 3 license includes 2 and 1 as well, but let us see if we get an official ruling. Also, the people in the Intrant office in POP are very nice and should be able to easily answer this question.

Thinking about it, it makes sense to me, because of the fact that most laws in the DR are based on the French “código”, which is the base of the Belgian laws as well. My daughter has a 125 cc here she can use, but she can’t ride my Vespa GTS300 unless she has a licence for 125 cc+ bikes.

If they enforced this law they would be removing almost every moto in the DR. Nice, but will never happen............

I just went through this process of switching my MN drivers license to a DR drivers license. It was a pain and I'm glad I had my lawyer with me at INTRANT. My license now says both Category 01 and Category 02 so I can legally drive my motorcycle and my SUV. 02 did not cover the motorcycle by itself

Problem is there is way too many 150 cc scooters in the streets. So what are they going to do ?
