The Superintendence of Electricity announced that as of October 2021 there will be increases in power tariffs nationwide. Resolution 075-2021 announces new rates and says that these will be revised every three months.

More than 90% of electricity users are expected to be impacted with the higher rates. The resolution affects consumers that receive the service from EdeSur, EdeEste and EdeNorte power utilities.

The government says it will be gradually revoking the subsidy on the rates that has been in effect for years. As reported in Diario Libre, there will be increases in the rates of those who consume less than 300 kw per hour and a decline in tariffs for those who consume more than 700 kw.
